Flashy Sir was a world champion who ruled the track as “Mr. Greyhound” from 1944 to 1947. He took on all comers and almost always came out on top.

Winning the acclaim of racing judges, secretaries, handicappers and most everyone who had the privilege of watching him perform, Flashy Sir earned the title of the greatest Greyhounds of his time.

Flashy Sir was purchased for $800 at a coursing meet in Abilene by Merrill Blair of Jewell, Ks. It was a small investment for a champion who won $50,000 in one year alone and averaged $1,200 per month in stud fees.

It was a small wonder when the Hall of Fame selection committee met to name the first three Greyhounds to be inducted that Flashy Sir was chosen.

As one of the greatest racing Greyhounds of all time, He started in 80 races in 13 different parks and won 60. He finished second 10 times and third four times. He ran out of the money in only six races.

Among his top performances was winning the $10,000 American Challenge Cup series held at the Taunton and Wonderland tracks. The high point in his career was when, after winning 18 consecutive races, the sports writers started calling him the Seabiscuit of Greyhound racing.

Out of Lucky Sir and Flashy Harmony, Flashy Sir will always be remembered at Taunton , Raynham, Biscayne, Revere and St. Petersburg .
