Two BD's Grayson pups (from two different litters) that sold in the NGA's Fall Meet Auction to Terry Scott ran 1-2 in the Mardi Gras Futurity in South Florida Saturday night, Jan. 21.
Flying Oberon (BD's Grayson-Flying Crescent), purchased by Scott for $20,000 from Vince Berland and Steve Ward after the pup ran second in a main-stake final in Abilene last October, demolished the Futurity field as the 80-cent favorite, winning by 9 1/2 lengths in a 30.06 time. Oberon's mother, Flying Crescent, is a littermate to all-time money earning champion Flying Stanley. Oberon races for On Line Racing Kennel.
Runnerup to Oberon on Saturday was Flying Axley (BD's Grayson-Flying Beem), purchased by Scott for $18,000 from Berland and Ward after the pup won an April Main Stake at the NGA Fall meet. Axley is a littermate to Flying Adamonis, the meet's top selling pup (tie), going for $30,000 after having also won an April Main Stake.
Finishing third in the Mardi Gras stake on Saturday was Carrillo (Rhythmless-WW's Kool Show), owned by Clayton Black.
