West Palm Beach, Fl. – The forecast was for a beautiful and cool day at Palm Beach Kennel Club.
Over on the Fox News Network, meteorologist Janice Dean was forecasting a cool and beautiful day of racing weather for one of Palm Beach Kennel Club’s biggest days of racing, the final of the $50,000 He’s My Man Classic
Also in West Palm Beach, Janice’s four-legged counter-part had a winning forecast in mind for herself.
As it turned out, The Weather Machine came roaring down the homestretch like a strong frontal system coming through south Florida and leaving the competition out in the cold.
In the finale, it was the early speed contenders rushing to the first turn. Entering the backstretch, it was a see-saw battle between race favorite Big Red Dog and 14-1 longshot KB’s Katana.
But, lurking not far behind were two of the Classic’s biggest finishers, Janice Dean and Barts Big Bang.
Entering the final turn, KB’s Katana won the battle with “Clifford” the Big Red Dog whilst Janice and the Big Bang were slowly reeling her in.
In the sprint to reach the championship finish line first, it was “The Weather Machine” Janice Dean blowing through like a Florida cold front to lay claim to the 2017 $50,000 He’s My Man Classic championship.
The champ covered the 545-yard Royal Palm Course in a speedy clocking of 29.68 seconds and going off at odds 2.80, returning a respectable $7.60 to her many, many happy supporters.
Janice Dean collected a cool $25,000 for his 29-plus seconds of racing excellence!
KB’s Katana and the “Bart” brothers, Barts Big Bang and Bartsrocktheboat, finished second, third and fourth, respectively.
