Tip Top In Route to His 16th-Consecutive Win!

West Palm Beach, Fl. – It could be the reshaping of Greyhound racing history as round-two qualifying action for Palm Beach Kennel Club’s $50,000 He’s My Man Classic takes place Saturday afternoon, January 13.

And if the first round was anything like round one, expect the fur to fly!

The same 56 Greyhounds who competed in the first round of qualifying last Wednesday afternoon will return for the second round, facing different Classic entries and all striving to be among the top 32 point earners.

The above mentioned 32 will go on to compete in round three on Wednesday afternoon, January 17, with the top 16 point earners moving on to the Classic semifinals on Sunday afternoon, January 21.

The $50,000 He’s My Man Classic finale will be contested Saturday afternoon, January 27.

A quick rundown of Saturday’s qualifiers:

Race 4 has no first-round winners, but several who absolutely need a good finish to move on to round three. Fan favorite #2 Barts Big Bang (Pat C Clement – Barts Magpie, James Douglas Kennel) needs a huge rush to the first turn to advance, while most likely in the best spot to garner some qualifying points looks to be #8 Dutch Hobbs (Kiowa Mon Manny – Dutch Dimple, Lester Raines Kennel).

Again, in Race 6, no round-one victors, but several Classic entrants look to put points on the board. Stand outs include #3 SE’s Cool Kate (Flying Coal City – As She Is Basra, Rader Racing) and the very-well posted #8 CRT Nice Mike (Dragon Fire – Gameboy Bambi, Janie Carroll). Nice Mike finished last in his trouble-laden round-one event, but the luck of the draw should give him a new lease on moving on to round three.

Race 8 features round-one victor and winner of last months $20,000 Dick Andrews Futurity #6 Eyesappealing (Barcia Bale – Goldilocks, Lester Raines), who appears to be set up nicely to move on the round three undefeated. But keep an eye on #8 Blackjack Rolo (Djays Octane – Blackjack Ignite, James Douglas) who needs a good finish to move on in the competition.

Race 10 features round-one winner and a pup going for his seventh-consecutive victory, #1 JT’s In The Bank (Pat C Sabbath – Julianne Hough, Koppe, Staats & Collins). This is a very evenly-matched field and one could make a case for all the entries in this event. It promises to be an exciting and outstanding event in round-two qualifying.

Race 12 looks to be a real slobberknocker as round-one victors #4 JSK Lubbock (Atascocita Gray – JSK I Love Lucy, B & B Racing) and #7 Grand Azul (Barcelona Boss – Kiowa Starz Sage, Rader Racing) meet again since the finals of the $20,000 Dick Andrews Futurity. Azul defeated Lubbock in a qualifier for the Futurity, but only by a neck. Both Greyhounds look to have a clear run to the first turn in this rematch, however racing fans will most likely go with Grand Azul after turning in a first-round qualifying clocking of 29.18 seconds.

In Race 14, it’s the veteran vs. the youngster as fan favorite and stake race finalist #5 Big Red Dog (Rhythmless – KB’s La Bella, Rader Racing) faces off against the 19-month old super pup #7 JT’s Blindnspeed (Pat C Sabbath – Julianne Hough, Koppe, Staats & Collins). Other Classic entrants who drew into good post positions include #1 Superior Dame (Flying Coal City – Superior Pandora, B & B Racing) and #8 Panama Piper (Superior Panama – Super C J Lo, Lester Raines). This one looks to be a classic!

And now on to the qualifier of all qualifiers, Race 15, the coup d'état! Rader Racing Kennel’s #7 Tip Top (Barcelona Boss – Kiowa Starz Sage) will be going for his 17th-consecutive victory, having been victorious in every one of his races starting last October 6. Topper is now in fourth-place on Palm Beach Kennel Club’s Consecutive Win List, behind Izz A Champ (21), Ozzie The Man (26) and Pat C Rendezvous (36). And to be perfectly honest, on paper as they say, Tip Top (who ran the fastest qualifying time in round one, 29.14 seconds) looks to continue his historic win streak!

The $50,000 He’s My Man Classic is the first event in Palm Beach Kennel Club’s $150,000 “Big 3" Stakes series, which includes the $50,000 James W. Paul 3/8ths Mile Derby (Saturday afternoon, February 24) and the $50,000 Arthur J. Rooney, Sr. St. Patrick’s Invitational (Saturday afternoon, March 17).

The Classic is named for Palm Beach Kennel Club racing legend and the track’s first multimedia sensation He’s My Man and dedicated to the man who raised and trained “Roscoe”, Bill Pappas.
