Another great weekend of racing is ahead of us here at bestbet Jacksonville. Warm-up time for the sprinters as the $75,000 James J Patton Silver Cup is just around the corner, so you need to get on top of your game as you don’t want to miss out on that action. Loads of top grade races this weekend over 550 and 660 yards.

So, let’s take a closer look at those feature races and see if we can get you cashing some tickets, and taking home some money, this weekend.

Friday evening February 9th, 2018

Race 7 – Stakes winner alert!! Fix A Drink won the 2017 Holiday Sprint Stakes and his brother just won the Orange Park Derby. Posted well outside, this winner of 3 of his last 5 starts, will be tough to beat. Trying to ruin his day will be the resurging WW Great Wall from a good post and the solid chasing Tmc’s Sweet Kiss, who also gets a great starting post. Everyone late better watch out for Pat C Gangsta. He can close on anyone when he gets loose. (7-2-3-6)

Race 10 – Back from Gulf Greyhound park on a mission, Jedi Texas Acre will outfinish everyone late tonight to score in back to back races. Breaking from the same post that got him a win last time out, this closer is right at home. He won’t be in the lead early here though, that will be reserved for the outside part of the racetrack. Both Roc A By Sunset and Michael Scofield have enough speed to see the lead, and force or set the pace in this one, but both can be caught late and will once again in this effort. Keep an eye out for Luck Of The Pup to round out the super. With 5 of 6 in the money in grade A, she will be around at the wire. (4-7-8-1)

Race 15 – The undefeated runner in qualifying for the Orange Park Derby, Craigie Javier, is ready for the also rans in this effort. Posted well inside, he should come out running here. Even without the lead he can run down several ankle burners in the stretch if need be. Time to make amends for the finals where he finished a respectable third. Setting the pace should be fellow finalist Critics Choice, and or, the recent grade A addition KC’s Christie from the outside. Both could upset a win if they can steal enough early on and get some held behind them, but more likely the succumb late and settle for the under part of the card. Don’t forget about Royal Clarion either. Better suited for 770 but can run a big race at 660 on occasion. Will be a closing threat and must break to take home a win here. (3-2-4-8)

Saturday matinee February 10th, 2018

Race 7 – Speed will be on full display as the veteran Mac’s Kelly tried to get home a winner from an advantageous post position. Winning 3 of 5, including 2 in a row from rail posts, Mac’s Kelly is going to be the one to beat again in this effort. He is strong early and can hold tough late to win races. He will be under duress throughout this effort. The Amazing Puppy SE’s Fast Fanny is looking to use her early speed to climb the ladder untouched and get home a winner. (4 starts, 4 wins to start career). A tall task to ask from such a young pup, and it will be even more tough with Flying Baby Giant in the mix as well. Another all out early speed greyhound, Giant will be a force from the start, but she doesn’t have the staying power of the other two. Even with the early lead, she can be caught late. Another greyhound to remember is AJW Coraline. This solid grade A can run both distance and will come on strong late to challenge once again today. (2-3-8-4)

Race 10 – Big names, big time talent in this race. Pat C Alex is thriving since moving back to 550 from the stakes race. He has won back to back races and has outrushed everyone to the lead in those efforts. He gets another great outside post position in this effort, and he should continue the good work today. He will not be alone though. Stakes winner and rebounding threat, Hey Hey Daddy has seen victory in 3 of his last 4 effort, including a couple from the midtrack post positions. All he needs to do is be close early, and he will factor throughout once again in this effort. Solid grade A closer BGR Benny Da Jet will live up to his name late with a fiery finish and remember Boc’s Andross on the rail as well. Posted up, she will be closer early and find a way to factor from start to finish here. (6-5-4-1)

Saturday evening February 10th, 2018

Race 7 – Another great match-up here as Dutch Doreen looks to use her early speed and wire this field on the front end again tonight. Posted well midtrack, she is really the only big early speed greyhound in this race and it should allow her to see the front end without any trouble in this one. Her problem is that she can be short late and could get caught in the stretch. Stepping into that role will be the stakes veteran Boc’s Queen Lady. The Queen has won stakes events, made 8 finals, and can run any distance. She is tough, tough, tough, and will be a factor at the finish line. The inside part of the racetrack might have something to say in this race as well. Both Pat C Hash Tag and Braska Kelly are solid grade A’s that can turn it on when they want to. If either of them comes out fast, they could be upset minded tonight. (4-5-2-1)

Race 11 – Class rules in this race as the 4 picks are all solid grade A’s. maybe not he most consistent greyhound, but Speedo Tuxedo is tough to beat when he wants to break and run. Posting up a win last time out, and 5 starts ago from this same starting box, he is just like his momma. When clear in the open up front, he is tough. Trying to push the pace and take down the leader will be Pat C Cozy. Braking from a good post, he needs to make the most of it at the break. Shorter than the rest, he will need the lead early if he wants to score at the finish line. Others to consider include When Doves Cry from Crowe. Another solid grade A greyhound that has seen the trifecta in 5 of 6 races. Winning could be tough, but the post is right, and he got it done 3 races back. You never know, and even though the post position is not right, GS Ann also gets a look here. She has won 2 of 4 and can surprise fields when she is close early on. Tonight, a big break is her only hope. (8-3-5-1)

Race 15 – She might have just missed in the finals, but she is still one of the top routers at the racetrack. Craigie Avatar gets the 1 box again and that will be bad things for the competition. The best closer at the racetrack, Avatar will be seeing the early leader late and getting by in time for back to back wins, and 4 in her last 5 starts. Setting the pace and leading for most of this race will be Like A Boss. Boss loves the rail, will get extra room early as Avatar sits in the box, and will blast to the front end. He is tough on top and will prove determined all the way to the wire. If there is trouble behind him, or Avatar gets blocked, he too could take home a win tonight. Pat C Bona is another greyhound that might have a shot at the W in this effort. He finished 4th in the Orange Park Derby and can close with the best of them late in the race. He was picking up Avatar in the last effort and should factor at the wire again tonight. Post position is his only drawback in this race. Watch out for Tiger’s Eye too. Forget the last effort, she had no where to go early on. Remember her stakes efforts. She was around the pace and even lead from this starting box. If she breaks well, she will factor at the finish line. (1-2-7-4)

Sunday matinee February 11th, 2018

Race 7 – Midnight Loot might not be the popular choice, but it is one that needs to be made. Global Racing has become a force here at bestbet and this guy might just be the best they have over 550. Loot has won 3 of 4 races and can beat you with an early break or can come from just off the pace and steal away the win at the wire. The post is right, so watch out today! If anyone can get by Loot late it is the former track record holder KMZ Kraken. This greyhound has speed to burn and can destroy fields when he gets loose early on. He loves the rail, gets it here, so all he needs to do is get out of the starting box a bit and be in the conversation early on and he will have a shot at the W today. Others to think about in this effort include Boc’s All I Got and Sofia Lugo. All I Got is back over 550 after the stakes and is a strong closer over the shorter course. She will make her move late and try to factor at the finish. Sofia is at the opposite end of the spectrum. She is all early speed, might even see the front end today, but she is short late, and I don’t think she can hold off all this late talent and score in this effort. Look for her to give way, but somehow survive in the money at the wire. (8-1-7-3)

Race 11 – Long overdue for yet another win, time for All-American Real Good Feelin to get her 98th career victory. She loves the outside posts and should get close enough at the start to run down everyone late for the win. She is clearly the class in this effort and will show them that this Sunday at the wire. Breaking fast and trying to steal away the win on the lead will be DC Thunder Dog. This greyhound likes the outside posts and will make the most of it in this effort. He is short though and should surrender in the stretch no matter where he is at. Guard Guardguard might be a pup, but he has been looking impressive as of late. With 3 wins in4 efforts, he is no joke, but these are grade A greyhounds and he will need to step up the game if he wants a chance to win. In a groove can he keep it up? We’ll see. Finally, is the 2017 Orange Park Derby winner Dutch Casey. Better over 660 than 550, Casey is back to the shorter distance to get ready for the stakes. He gets a great post here, he loves the rail, but will have to work cut out for him in this effort. A big time closer, not matter the distance, he will not be heard from in this race until the clock is almost striking 12. If he can find room early, and not get too far behind at the start, he too could drive home and steal away a win today. (7-8-2-1)
