Abrahamson Kennel’s CG’s Lady Bug rocketed to the early lead and never looked back in capturing the $35,000 West Virginia Greyhound Owners and Breeders Association Juvenile Championship Nov. 3 at Wheeling Island.

Breaking from the five hole, CG’s Lady Bug posted a box-to-wire 2-length victory in 30.35. CET Hellen Ann took runner up honors while Mac’s Jack was third.

Completing the final order of finish were JA’s Shell Game, fourth; TS Steph Curry, fifth; Mac’s Rose, sixth; Mac’s Priscilla, seventh; and Coach Stalnaker, eighth.

CG’s Lady Bug, a September 2016 greyhound out of KC And All-Jax Grace, had 7 wins, 3 seconds, 3 thirds and 1 fourth in 21 starts at Tri-State Greyhound Park before coming up to Wheeling for the Juvenile stakes. She was trained in Wheeling by Tom Engle and owned by Janice C. Abrahamson.

I was introduced to greyhound racing by a friend in the late 1970s at Wheeling Downs and fell in love with the sport and the athletes immediately. Throughout the years, I have developed a deep passion for racing. In the mid 1990s, I started writing a weekly greyhound column and shortly thereafter became a writer for The Greyhound Review.

I have enjoyed watching and writing about these wonderful competitors, including All-Americans DD's Nelson, Kiowa Sweet Trey, Gene's Champion, WW Apple Jax, Greys Royalcrown, Nimby TP Jan, Hi Noon Hero, Gable Sour Cream, KB's Ruckus and Cry Case.
