Monday, April 22, 2019

The final payments are in and the field in now set for the 2019 Great American Greyhound Futurity. There are a total of 91 entries paid through the first round and hopefully all will be healthy, ready and eligible to run for the first round.

There are six rounds of qualifying for this event. Due to the 91 nominations, the field will be cut to 48 greyhounds after round 3 and the points accumulated for those 48 advancing will be reset to zero. The top eight point getters after rounds 4, 5 and 6 will move on to the championship race while greyhounds finishing 9th through 16th will be eligible for the consolation race. The qualifying rounds will be contested on the following schedule:

• Round 1 – Monday, April 29

• Round 2 – Saturday, May 4 (evening performance)

• Round 3 – Friday, May 10

• Round 4 – Wednesday, May 15

• Round 5 – Monday, May 20

• Round 6 – Sunday, May 26

• Championship/Consolation – Saturday, June 1 (matinee)

NOTE – If the field stays at 91 entries, the first three rounds will be seven dog races to equalize the field and opportunities for all greyhounds. If the number changes, we will do our best to equalize the races/entries per race as much as possible.
