In 2017, CET Patches won the battle to the first turn with Jax Eleni and, once on the lead, romped to a box-to-wire 7 ½-length victory. Jax Eleni took runner up honors while Bustin BJ held off Hit Me Chief to round out the trifecta ticket.

In 2016, GF Street Song – sent to post at 19-1 odds – took charge early in rolling to a 3 ½-length victory. GF Zelda took runner up honors while CET Dirty Nicki finished third and RS’soutofcontrol was fourth.

In 2015, CET Big John took command late and pulled away for a 3-length victory. Take Off Tug closed from sixth in the stretch to take runner up honors while pacesetter Cam Wookie settled for third. Captain Trzeciak was fourth.

In 2014, GF Sister Karen swept all three of her qualifying rounds before romping to a 4-length victory in the final. Samurai Sabrina took runner up honors while Coach Kaitlynn rounding out the trifecta ticket. Coach Katana was fourth.

I was introduced to greyhound racing by a friend in the late 1970s at Wheeling Downs and fell in love with the sport and the athletes immediately. Throughout the years, I have developed a deep passion for racing. In the mid 1990s, I started writing a weekly greyhound column and shortly thereafter became a writer for The Greyhound Review.

I have enjoyed watching and writing about these wonderful competitors, including All-Americans DD's Nelson, Kiowa Sweet Trey, Gene's Champion, WW Apple Jax, Greys Royalcrown, Nimby TP Jan, Hi Noon Hero, Gable Sour Cream, KB's Ruckus and Cry Case.
