Abrahamson Kennel littermates CG’s Penny Shoe and CG’s Sneaker top all qualifiers for the Saturday afternoon, Sept. 28, championship final of the $35,000 West Virginia Greyhound Owners and Breeders Association Juvenile Stakes at Wheeling Island.

CG’s Penny Shoe and CG’s Sneaker, two of the pre-stake favorites, posted their third straight victory in Wednesday’s semifinal round. Each accumulated 45 points to advance to the final.

A Ray Kennel’s Mac’s Zaxxon captured the other semifinal race to earn 37 points and land a spot in the championship.

The final field and their qualifying round points follow: CG’s Penny Shoe (Abrahamson Kennel) and CG’s Sneaker (Abrahamson Kennel), 45 points each; Mac’s Zaxxon (A Ray Kennel), 37 points; CET Sassy (Steve Sarras Kennel) and CET Little Razz (Steve Sarras Kennel), 27 points each; Mac’s Crabtree (A Ray Kennel), 25 points; TS Shaq (Steve Sarras Kennel), 22 points; and TS Tito Ortiz (Steve Sarras Kennel), 21 points.

The Juvenile final will be Race 15 Saturday afternoon. From the rail out, the post positions are: 1—TS Shaq, 2—CET Little Razz, 3—CET Sassy, 4—CG’s Sneaker, 5—Mac’s Zazzon, 6—Mac’s Grabtree, 7—CG’s Penny Shoe, 8—TS Tito Ortiz.

Following are capsule looks at the three semifinal round races:

CG’s Penny Shoe rolled to an early lead and never looked back, winning by 4 ½ lengths in 29.99. CET Little Razz finished second while Mac’s Cane rounded out the trifecta ticket.

CG’s Sneaker was challenged all around the track by Mac’s Murdoch, before prevailing by a length in 30.15. CET Sassy got up in the stretch for third.

Mac’s Zaxxon posted a box-to-wire 3 ½-length victory in 30.12. TS Shaq and TS Tito Ortiz easily took the next two spots on the ticket.

CET Cash Money (Steve Sarras) and Cetmark Eaton (Imark) were scratched after the first round.
