Double G Kennel’s Flying Okahana is the lone greyhound undefeated after three rounds of the $100,000 Mardi Gras Championship at Tri-State Greyhound Park.

The sprinter posted her third straight victory Saturday night in round three to top the leaderboard with 36 points. Next in line are CET Dirty Dilly with 33 points and John J Rambo with 31 points.

The field will be cut to 24 greyhounds for the semifinal round on Thursday, Dec. 23. The championship final is set for Thursday, Dec. 30.

Following are the point totals after three rounds:

36 points – Flying Okahana

33 points – CET Dirty Dilly

31 points – John J Rambo

30 points – RS Felicha, Bug Brush, Turbo Rayo

29 points – Centex Ryan

28 points – KBJ Powerplay

26 points – RF Snowflake, Fly L Donald Jr, Turbo Foley, FF Salty Dog, Superior Tiara

24 points – Younoseeme

23 points – Superior Bonnie

21 points – RS Thousand RPM, GLS Havana, Let It Down

20 points – FF Roadhouse

19 points – Fly Greg Geter, RS Top Gear, Superior Andy

18 points – Burning Man

17 points – Deco All Red Alternates (17 points): Super C Aneeta, O Ya Power Surge

I was introduced to greyhound racing by a friend in the late 1970s at Wheeling Downs and fell in love with the sport and the athletes immediately.
