Leading Point Scorer in Qualifying, the Fabulous Fraulein Morgan

West Palm Beach, Fl. - The final eight Greyhounds have been determined for Saturday afternoon’s 86th running of Palm Beach Kennel Club’s $50,000 James W. Paul 3/8ths Mile Derby on Saturday afternoon, February 25, one of the nation’s longest-running stake events.

Scoring three qualifying wins and a second-place finish is leading point-earner and early favorite to win it all, Janie Carroll Kennel’s Fraulein Morgan.

The Fraulein is the kennel club’s current win leader with 26 victories, nine more victories than her closest competitor. This season alone, Morgan has finished in the top four in 37 of her 38 outings. Absolutely stunning!

The Janie Carroll Kennel earned a second slot in the Derby championship final with the outstanding early-speedster, O Ya Maybelline.

The Janie Carroll Kennel will be going for their second Derby championship, having won with the recently retired middle-distance track record holder, Ethel Is Here.

Another finalist who will get a lot of support from racing fans around the world is Brindle Kennel’s 2017 $50,000 He’s My Man champion, Janice Dean.

Janice Dean, named after Fox News meteorologist Janice Dean. recently became a national sensation after appearing on a segment of the morning news program Fox & Friends. Nicknamed “The Weather Machine”, Janice will be looking to become only the second Greyhound in kennel club history to win the $150,000 “Big 3” series, which includes the He’s My Man Classic, the Derby and next month’s $50,000 Arthur J. Rooney, Sr. St. Patrick’s Invitational.

Brindle Kennel scored another Derby finalist with the shy and beautiful closer RY’s Priscilla.

Also making the finale of this year’s elite Derby field will be the fantastic late-speed competitor Wicked Twista. Twista competes for North Shore Kennel and is trained by Bill Reeves. As many of you may remember, Reeves was the trainer of Greyhound Hall of Famer and 1994 Derby champion, the legendary Pat C Rendezvous.

The James Douglas Kennel has earned two Derby finalists, and the only male Greyhounds competing, the impressive duo of Barts Wanna Bet and Barts Realsmooth.

Rounding out the 2017 $50,000 James W. Paul Derby field is the impressive early-speed demon, Go Bon Kickstart. Kickstart has championship blood running through her veins, as her mother, Go Bon Pure Lee, was the winner of the 2010 $20,000 Bob Balfe Puppy Stakes!
