The $30,000 Dubuque Course Classic began Friday, August 11, with four races.

PG Dickinson (Xtrem Hess Racing L.L.C.) posted the best time for the 2,040 foot course. Breaking from the two box, she went box-to-wire to win in a time of 39.91 seconds. PG Dickinson, a 72-pounder born April 4, 2014 out of Lonesome Cry – Auntie Anne, is 16-3-7-2 on the 2017 season at Iowa Greyhound Park.

The largest margin of victory was posted by BGR Dirty Shirly (Boeckenstedt), who broke third then pulled away in the far turn for a four length triumph. Shirly, a 60-pounder born Dec. 5, 2015 out of Boc’s Blast Off – Superior Peace, is 14-4-2-2 on the season.

DS Raisinette (Xtrem Hess Racing L.L.C.) broke third from eight box and won pulling away a bit by three lengths in a time of 39.99. She moves to 13-3-1-2 on the season.

JD Allure (Stidham Racing L.L.C.) completed a sweep by females in the first round. She broke second from the two box; built a three-length lead then hung on to win by a half-length. JD Allure is 13-4-3-4 on the season.

The greyhounds return for the second round of the Dubuque Course Classis on Friday, August 18. After the second round, the field will be trimmed to 16 for the third round on Friday, August 25.
