RT’s Bo Jangles scored his second stakes title in 29 days with a convincing five-length victory Saturday night in the $10,000 Thanksgiving Stakes at Derby Lane.

The Cal Holland kennel standout broke from the No. 4 post and raced behind pace-setter John Valazquez (Capabal kennel) until midway on the backstretch, where he sped into the lead for good with a strong move on the rail. RT’s Bo Jangles, the 4-5 wagering favorite, clocked 550 yards in 30.47 seconds – the fastest time among 80 greyhounds that raced at that distance on the evening program.

“I would say that’s probably one of his best (races ever),’’ Holland said. “I just knew if he got to the front, no one would ever catch him.’’

RT’s Bo Jangles, who leads in his quest for a second consecutive meet win title, won for the 40th time this year. It was his 49th lifetime victory from 89 starts, and ninth in the past 10 outings. He paid $3.60 to win. The $4,500 first-place paycheck raised his career earnings to $37,807. RT’s Bo Jangles captured the $10,000 Howl-O-Ween Stakes on Oct. 28 in similar fashion, winning by six lengths as the 3-5 betting favorite.

Holland trains the 31-month-old male from a litter by Kiowa Mon Manny and Penrose Karrie for owner Randy Toler of Penrose, Colo., where RT’s Bo Jangles was raised on the farm of Nick DeSalvo – Toler’s father-in-law.

O Ya Roughnready (D’Arcy kennel) nosed out John Valazquez for second place. Flamenco Dancer (Farmer Racing), who nosed out RT’s Bo Jangles in Wednesday’s qualifier to end her foe’s eight-race win streak, was fourth. The remaining order of finish: CTW Madman Shane (Clear The Way Kennels), Fly J Kissantell (Lester Raines), Kaias Coach K (Floyd) and Ww’s Odessabeach (Patriot).

The Thanksgiving was Derby Lane’s final 550 stakes of the year. The track’s 2017 stakes schedule concludes with the $70,000 Holiday Distance Challenge on Dec. 9-23.
