The first round of the Naples Fort Myers distance stakes was held Valentine's evening. Sixty-four starters competed in eight qualifying rounds over the 660-yard course.

Last years winner and 2017 All American Fire Blitzen scored top points from his favorite rail post and his kennel-mate LA's Pied Piper gave DQ Williams kennel a pair of wins for trainer Claudia Quintero.

Charter Kennel also racked up two wins with Worry Free and Papertown for trainer Blane Armstrong. Xtrem kennel's DS Jester closed out the evening and the final qualifier by clocking the fastest round one time of 38.16 for trainer Jill Spicer.

Other round one winners included Superior Jo Jo (Superior), Flying Zac Efron (Everett) and Elizabeth Banks (Steve Sarras). Round two is Saturday night February 17th.

The stakes final is March 3.
