Distinguished Greyhounds

Since 1971, NGA Members (Full and Associate) vote to name the top sprinter each year.  The winner is awarded the Rural Rube Awards.  Rural Rube was an outstanding sprinter in the late 1930's and sits as a distinguished member of the Hall of Fame,

For 52 years NGA Members (Full and Associate) vote to name the top 3/8 mile distance racer of each year.  Flashy Sir is named for the outstanding distance greyhound of the mid-1940's and a Hall of Fame Member

For 60 years, the top greyhounds nominated by the American Greyhound Track Operators Association, or in recent times, the National Greyhound Association Board.  Since 1963, a team of eight greyhounds are honored at the National Greyhound Association Spring Meet.

Introduced in 2023 to recognize the most accomplished greyhounds in the United States, The All Star Team is four of the top greyhounds at Wheeling Island and the top 4 at Mardi Gras Tristate.   NGA Board of Directors takes into account win totals, stakes wins and competition to determine that year's best of the best.
