< Back AD BLACK FALCON WINS SECOND STRAIGHT $100,000 MOUNTAINEER CLASSIC QUALIFIER S Pawloski Oct 5, 2020 Xtrem Hess Racing Kennel’s AD Black Falcon is the lone greyhound undefeated after two rounds of the $100,000 Mountaineer Classic at Wheeling Island. The sprinter posted his second consecutive victory Friday afternoon in the second preliminary qualifying round. AD Black Falcon has accumulated 30 points heading into the Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 14, third round. Other greyhounds racing to victory in the second round were Gloves Off, Xtrem Hess Racing Kennel; Gonz Pina Kata, Xtrem Hess Racing Kennel; Fit The Battle, Jacobs Racing Kennel; AB Bad Influence, Jacobs Racing Kennel; Easi Lil Charlie, Blanchard Kennel; Atascocita Birma, Abrahamson Kennel; Me No Care, Steve Sarras Kennel; Craigie Pirate, Lester Raines Kennel; Saber Rylie, Imark Kennel; and CTW Tira Misu, Patriot/Taplin Kennel. Jeff Prince Dec 31, 2019 West Palm Beach, Fl. – Sometimes you know who will win a race a few seconds after the starting box opens. Sometimes you find out the winner as the result of a photo finish. In the twenty-second running of the $20,000 Dick Andrews Futurity, it may have taken about three seconds after the race began that you knew who the championship blanket would be placed on. When the starting box opened, it was August Dawn breaking on top and extending his lead to the first turn. As written in the summary of the final, “If August Dawn breaks alertly and garners the early lead, there will be no catching him.” Now comes the surprises. GV On A Quest , the longest shot on the board at 37-1, outbroke her inside competition and reached the rail, outgunning the undefeated qualifying finalist, RF Oka . As the finalist raced into the final turn, Atascocita Jarta , going off at 17-1, found room on the inside and secured her spot as the third-place finisher, behind GV On A Quest . Rounding out the Superfecta was the hard-closing finalist Skiddy Hotrod , who himself went off at 34-1. August Dawn was victorious by three lengths and traversed the 545-Yard Royal Palm Course in a speedy time of 29.79 seconds, returned a healthy $19.60 to the delight of his supporters. The newly-crowned champ collected a cool $10,000 for his impressive box-to-wire victory. The complete order of finish: 1st – 6. August Dawn (Kinda Cruel Red – SG’s Phil Niekro, Rader Racing) 2nd – 3. < Back HALL OF FAME AUCTION NETS HUGE DONATION! Jim Gartland Jul 30, 2021 The recently completed Hall of Fame Facebook auction resulted in a donation of over $36,000 to the Greyhound Hall of Fame! Hundreds of items were donated and auctioned off over the course of a month or so and was well received by the greyhound nation. These funds will go a long way in helping the Hall remain a showplace and a shining light for the greyhound industry. Many, many thanks go out to all of those who donated items and especially to all of those who bid on and "won" these great memories and artifacts. Thanks also to Tom Taplin and family, Connie Karsmizki, Kathy Lounsbury, and Warren Kready, for all their time and effort in helping to make this a success. Most of all, however, the Hall and the industry owes a mountain of thanks to Donna and Brett Weeks as well as Nancy Nelson for organizing, operating and overseeing this tremendous undertaking! Donna and Nancy took care of all the details, from the smallest items to the biggest problems, beginning to end and without their hard work and dedication this event would have never taken place, let alone, been such a tremendous success.
