Field Named for Future Stars Preview

The eight pups for the NGA-Wheeling Island Future Stars Preview Stake have been selected and will do battle on Saturday afternoon, November 29th during the matinee performance at Wheeling Island.

The stake, open only to pups who were purchased in this year's fall auction at the NGA, is modeled after early season puppy stakes run at tracks around the country in years past where some of the best pups schooling in at the meet were matched up in a "puppy hot box" and a preview of possible future stardom.

Based on early schooling and official starts the following eight greyhounds have been selected for the event:

Chef's Kiss - Owned by Lester Raines - Racing for the Raines Kennel

Whole Truth - Owned by Patriot-Taplin Kennel - Racing for Patriot-Taplin Kennel

Lee Helga - Owned by Steve Sarras - Racing for the Steve Sarras Kennel

WW Head Together - Owned by Elvis Hyden - Racing for the Wayne Ward Kennel

Newsherrifntown - Owned by Steve Sarras - Racing for the Steve Sarras Kennel

WW Late Night - Owned by Elvis Hyden - Racing for the Wayne Ward Kennel

Dont Mind If Ido - Owned by Ray Wong - Racing for the Charter Kennel

WW Expressway - Owned by Elvis Hyden - Racing for the Wayne Ward Kennel

The Stake will pay as a standard Grade SAA purse from Wheeling Island.  In addition, there will be $5,000 in added money (contributed by the NGA and Wheeling) which will be paid out directly to the owners of the first three finishers on a 60%-30%-10% basis.

In case any of the original eight cannot enter the final for some reason, three alternates have been named.  They are WW Navy, WW Holy Roller and Spam Calling.
