< Back SPRING MEET POSTPONED Mar 25, 2020 We are collectively navigating these unchartered waters with the corona virus pandemic affecting all of our families, businesses and our way of life. As a result of this pandemic and the issues invoked by Governmental guidelines and regulations, we have been forced to postpone the NGA's spring meet scheduled for April 13th through 17th. We have tentatively rescheduled the meet for the week of May 11th through 15th. However, with so much uncertainty in the world we currently find ourselves living in, we will continue to monitor the situation and provide any updates we can as to the ongoing status of the meet. Please direct any specific questions or concerns about the meet to the NGA office. At this time, the office is operating with limited personnel but will continue with normal hours (M - F, 8:00-5:00) until further notice. However, per Dickinson County Health Department Orders, public access will be limited into the office, so please call ahead if you plan on coming to the NGA office for any reason. Previous Next

< Back NATIONAL WIN LEADER: DOWN N DIRTY Jim Gartland Jan 10, 2022 The race for the national win title was a runaway in 2021 as Carl Tomblin's CET Dirty Dilly easily outdistanced all others garnering 42 wins for the year. A Caliente product, Between the Linz, finished a distant second with 32 wins. The race was never really close as Dilly had won 21 races halfway through the year including an unbelievable 16 in a row from April 1 through July 2. CET Dirty Dilly is a December 2018 female out of SH Avatar-CET Dirty Nicki. She was raised and is owned by Carl Tomblin II and races for his CET Kennel at Tri State. Her accomplishments for the year included a couple of stakes wins, multiple win streaks and a track record setting performance on September 7 when the speedy female covered the 5/16 course at Tri State in 29.23. That record setting performance was the culmination of a nine race win streak. CET DIRTY DILLY Dilly in full stride Her first stake win came in the $65,000 WVKOBA Sprint Championship in June where she cruised to a thirteen length victory in what would be the 15th of 16 straight wins. After winning sixteen straight, she "cooled off" and ran 2nd, before beginning a win streak of nine straight that featured the track record setting performance. Finishing 2nd again in her next start, she took off again and won 12 of her next 16 including her final start of the year and a win in the $100,000 Mardi Gras Classic. Her final stat line for the year was 55 starts, 42 wins, 9 second place finishes and 1 fourth. 76% win percentage, 92% in the quinella and 94% on the paysheet, incredible numbers for an exceptional greyhound! < Back JERRY CRUCE OBITUARY May 14, 2021 Jerry D. Cruce of West Memphis Arkansas passed away at home in the early morning hours of April 26, 2021, surrounded by friends and family Jerry was born June 6th, 1946 in Perry, Florida . Jerry trained greyhounds starting in the mid to late 70’s working for the Don Klink kennel in Miami, Florida & then with the Tom Farrell Kennel in Jacksonville, Florida. He spent the last 18 years of his training career with the Bussmann-Balakas kennel at Southland Greyhound Park in West Memphis Arkansas where he is was affectionately known as Papa Smurf. He loved the greyhounds & enjoyed working with them. He enjoyed, the people he worked with & around in the greyhound business, including the haulers & especially the farmers, who raised the dogs. He met his future wife Mary on a blind date in April of 71. They married on 9-15-84 & were married until his passing. He was predeceased by : his parents, John David Cruce and Christine Watson Cruce; his brother Lewis; and his parents-in-law, Eddie and Maria "Constance" Dicandia. He is survived by : his wife Mary Dicandia Cruce; his sons, Bart Falcone, Phillip Falcone and Quinde Falcone Jr. (Yolanda); his grandchildren, Quinde Falcone III, Kim Falcone, Taylor Falcone and Allison Sosne; his great grandchild Nellie Frey Sosne; his goddaughter Chelsea Whitman; his siblings, Reba Cruce Rogers (Freddie), Joseph William Cruce (Derry) and Richard Harold Cruce (Carol); and his sister-in-law Bessie Cruce. He is also survived by nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 1st 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Burns Funeral Home He was laid to rest at the Hendry Cemetery in Shady Grove, Florida Previous Next
