< Back CET DIRTY DILLY REPEATS AS CAPTAIN FOR 2022 ALL AMERICAN TEAM Jim Gartland Feb 2, 2023 West Virginia superstar CET Dirty Dilly has once again been voted Captain of the 2022 All American team. The annual naming of the All-America team, dates back to 1963. The program pays tribute to the top eight greyhounds nationally. Others named to this year’s squad are: FGF Davycrockett (Southland), Florentine (Wheeling), CET Dirty Dan (Tri State/Wheeling), JS Nawty Redhead (Southland), Winchester (Southland), RS Big D (Wheeling) and JS Pumpedupkicks (Tri State). This year’s second team is comprised of: World Rule r (Southland), Gold Standard (Southland), Foolish Behavior (Southland), CET Barracuda (Wheeling), Super C Brew (Southland), Oshkosh Edward (Southland), Army (Southland) and FGF Bodacious (Southland). Heading up this year's team is it's Captain, CET Dirty Dilly (SH Avatar-CET Dirty Nicki) who was Tri State's win leader, as well as National Win Leader, and finished out of the money only one time all year. Perhaps the most steady and consistent greyhound racing in 2022, Dirty Dilly won 40 races during the year, just two short of last year's nation leading 42, in seven less starts. She would finish the year with a 48-40-3-4-0 record and the well earned reward as Captain of the 2022 AA team. FGF Davycrockett (Trent Lee-FGF Jamboree) After seven starts at 550 yards while breaking in at Southland in 2021, Davycrockett was moved over to 660 yards. He was finally able to break his Maiden going the longer distance and since then, has never looked back. In 2022 he was the win leader and top money earner at Southland running strictly 660 and 703 yard races. He would finish in the money 40 out of 45 times on his way to winning 18 races, cementing himself as the best distance dog at the track. His final stats would read 45-18-9-5-8. Another Southland distance star, Winchester (Shonn-Fiesta Toril), makes the team coming off a 15 win season and setting a new track record for the 660 yard course at West Memphis. Racing for Plum Creek Kennel at Southland, Winchester sizzled to a 36.06 clocking in April of last year to set the new mark for the course. He never missed the paysheet during the year, ompiling a 38-15-10-7-6 overall record, winning 15 which was good enough for 3rd most for the year at Southland. JS Nawty Redhead (Show On The Road-JS Runnin Havoc) makes the 2022 team as another talented distance dog from Southland. The red fawn female switched over to the longer races in mid-March and picked up a win in her first start at the distance. She would go on to win 14 more at 660 yards, good enough to finish in 2nd place in the win standings for the year at Southland. She finished with a record of 35-17-3-2-3 for 2022. Florentine (Rob Gronkowski-PJ Sour Diesel) broke in at Wheeling in late 2021 and within 3 months found herself in grade AA. Early speed is her game and once on the lead, she was tough to beat. She finished the year as the win leader at the Wheeling oval with 22 victories. A couple of three and four race win streaks helped contribute to her overall record of 56-22-9-1-4. The only real stake winner of the year, CET Dirty Dan (SH Avatar-CET Dirty Nicki) captured the WVGOBA Championship back in October, just one of his 22 wins on the year. Dirty Dan started the year in Tri State and showed some of the same form as his super sister, CET Dirty Dilly. He would win 8 races at Tri State before moving on to Wheeling for the stake. He took to the Wheeling track and picked up 14 more wins including the stake for an overall 39-22-6-2-1 record for the year. Another distance star to make this year's team, JS Pumpedupkicks (Show On The Road-JS E Z Livin), joins the team off of a stellar 2022. He was easily the best distance dog at Tri State in 2022 pulling off a couple of five race win streaks and setting a track record along the way. In September, the big male rolled to an 11 length win in 37.42, shattering the old record for the 677 yard course. His year was shortened by injury, but he finished with a 45-27-6-3-2 record, good enough for fifth in the nation in wins. In somewhat of a surprise, RS Big D (Oya Stan The Man-RS Hard Drive) makes the team despite being injured and only acquiring 14 starts for the year. But what a 14 starts they were! Running strictly distance races, the big brindle male won 12 of those 14 starts including 10 in a row( 13 in a row carried over from 2021) and was, by far, the best distance hound at Wheeling. He ran out of the money only one time and finished the abbreviated year with a 14-12-1-0-0 record. These eight represent the 1st team and will be honored with All-America plaques at the Greyhound Hall Of Fame awards ceremony on Thursday night, Apr. 27, during the NGA Spring Meet in Abilene, KS. 2nd Team Southland Grandpa, World Rule r (Need My Moneynow-Fly Miley Cyrus) leads the Second Team of All-Americans. He compiled a 31-14-6-4-5 record after turning 4 years of age early in the year. He is joined by the following: Gold Standard (Stealintheshow-Dutch Jackie) 27-14-3-4-2 at Southland. < Back BB Treetop Lover breaks Wheeling 3/16th track record Stan Pawloski Apr 21, 2026 BB Treetop Lover has raced his name into the Wheeling record books. On Wednesday afternoon, April 1, the Lester Raines Kennel 330-yard super sprinter broke the 3/16th track record when he stopped the clock in 16.50 seconds. Breaking from the five box, BB Treetop Lover grabbed an early lead and never looked back in posting a 2-length victory in a Grade TAA race. The old mark of 16.65 was set by JS Cowboy Joe (Lester Raines Kennel) on Aug. 2, 2025. Before JS Cowboy Joe set his mark, another Lester Raines greyhound, Atascocita Santo, and UBX Crackereater (Xtrem Hess Racing Kennel) shared the record with a 16.74 time. < Back ROUND 1 - 2020 ORANGE PARK DERBY Jan 13, 2020 Its time to kick off the stakes racing season in 2020 with the Orange Park Derby. The best greyhounds at the racetrack will battle in head to head competition over the next two weekends for a chance at the cash and the crown on Saturday evening February 1st at bestbet Jacksonville. A ton of converted sprinters are amongst the ranks and we will soon see if they are up to the added distance. The 660 mainstays are also here, so who will come out on top in round 1? Let’s take a closer look. Round 1 of 2020 Orange Park Derby – Monday evening January 13th, 2020 Race 7 – Easy choice here as the solid grade A router is Fakeit To Makeit. A clear class edge top notch winner over 660 will get to take once several newcomers and other lower grade 660 racers. Posted well, out and gone and holding on to win. Ww Annie Kay is switching to 660 and might be able to compete early. A solid breaking grade A, she might be able to hang in early, don’t know if she can run this far. UC Ricky Snickle can close late over the distance and will make his presence know, and don’t forget about TMC’s Makinmoney. Dad Seldom Told was the winner of this race a few years ago. (3-7-8-6) Race 9 – Go with the hot hand here. WP’s Twistedlady has won 3 of her last 4 starts and hasn’t missed the quiniela in any of those efforts. She has good early speed and is determined late. Bred to run this far, dad Seldom Told was an OPD winner in the past. Pat C Woozy can really let things fly when he gets loose early, but he must break to impress here. The most is good, and late he will come flying to challenge. Other routers I Dont Care could press throughout from a great post, and the Thanksgiving Marathon Champ, Baby Stop Crying, is rested well and could threaten from off the pace late. (7-4-3-6) Race 10 – Pre-Race favorite RPG Get You Back might just be the one to beat in this whole stake race. Winning 5 of the last 6 races, she is a force over this distance. From the outside post, she will be unabated to the lead and should dominate in this effort. Super C Addison might be new to the route, but she sure looks the part of a 660 greyhound. Anyone out of Super C Alice can run this far. Don’t be surprised by an upset. WW Spending Time is a solid grade A winner over 660 that could be a tough as well tonight. She is a bit short late and that could cost her in the final few strides tonight. Alcohol U Later is a strong closer that is a big outclassed in this effort. Still young, showing promise, despite the grade disadvantage, he is good enough to factor at the wire here against these. (8-5-7-4) Race 12 – WW Porro has not missed the quiniela in 4 straight and has not finished out of the money in 6 races in a row. He has good early speed, will be a threat to the early leaders, and late will prove best for the win. BGR Woe Is Me is loving the new distance and has taken to it like a fish to water. Getting better in every start, don’t overlook those back to back wins. A new grade A, she lacks experience, but not late drive to talent. She too could be a threat to win here. LK’s Haul N Cash needs to get back breaking, and back on track, if she wants a chance to shine tonight, and in the stretch everyone better be wary of the hard closing TMC’s Skatman as they approach the finish line. (8-5-7-4) Race 14 – I know it is new to the distance, but sometimes you have to go in instinct. Pat C Jacob loved the rail and gets the one box in this effort. He is not short! He is a powerful greyhound, and you cannot forget about that 30.21 clocking sitting there 3 races back. He will break better over the route and I expect him to make quite a debut over 660 yards tonight. Trying to challenge him will be the trio of grade A 660 routers. LK’s I Got This is a good breaker that will prompt the pace throughout in this effort, especially from the 8 box. RTSS Gonwitdawin is tough when she is close early on. No big speed around here in this effort and breaking from a favorable post, she contends too. Arby can come on strong late on occasion and looks to make the most of the 2 box here. If the mood is right, she has the speed to challenge as well. (1-8-6-2) Round 2 will run on Friday evening January 17th as all 5 races return. < Back DERBY LANE COMPLETES FIRST MONTH BACK Aug 3, 2020 The first month in the July-to-December meet at Derby Lane ended this past Friday with a logjam atop the greyhound win standings. Nova kennel handles two of the four dogs tied for the top spot with four victories each, including Hi Noon Ruger and Hi Noon Ricochet. Kells Ireland of Everett Racing kennel and Kaias Dark Star of Floyd kennel also have four wins. Six greyhounds are only one victory off the pace with three victories apiece: Lashmet kennel’s LK’s Crush N It and LK’s Molinari; Kells Xterra of Everett Racing kennel; JS Hunny Bee of Lester Raines kennel; Atascocita Sure of Watson Racing kennel; and Tail Spin of Nova kennel. Hi Noon Ruger has been the most consistent athlete among the win leaders with four victories and two seconds from six starts for kennel owner Hans Limmer and trainer Missy Kubitz. Hi Noon Ricochet has four wins and one second from seven starts. Kells Ireland has four victories, one second and one third from seven outings for kennel owner Kelly Everett and trainer Kelsie Gubbels. Kaias Dark Star has won four of five starts for kennel operators Pat and Randy Floyd, who is the trainer. Nova kennel’s Hi Noon Recoil has clocked the meet’s fastest time of 30.26 seconds at 550 yards. Penrose Ronnie of Cal Holland kennel has the best time of 37.54 seconds on the 660-yard course. Reigning kennel champion Lester Raines has bolted out to a 13-win lead in the kennel standings. Under the guidance of trainer Anthony Diaz, Lester Raines enjoys a 60-47 edge over both Abernathy and Capabal. Nova is fourth at 45 and Everett Racing is next with 41. Lester Raines also leads in starts with 322, six more than Watson Racing. Derby Lane features seven weekly performances with matinee racing Monday through Saturday, and a Saturday evening card. On the Thursday program, the Joel Roden-trained Lester Raines Kennel posted seven wins – Summerly, JS Leap Of Faith, JS Mismarymackin, JS Up In Flames, JS Reema, Calmbefordastorm and JS Smalltowngirl.
